ManageEngine expands self-service password management
ManageEngine announced that ADSelfService Plus, its integrated Active Directory (AD) solution for self-service passwords and single sign-on, supports self-service passwords management for Linux end users. ADSelfService Plus now allows end users to reset their passwords and unlock their accounts in AD from the Linux machine login screen.
When end users forget passwords, their performance decreases because a technician or administrator needs a long time to verify identity and reset passwords. According to Forrester Research estimates, the average cost of resetting a single password performed by the support service is about $ 70, while Gartner estimates that between 20% and 50% of all support calls fall to a password reset.
To avoid this cost, organizations must provide end users with the ability to quickly reset their passwords independently, regardless of the support service. This option should be available when users most often realize that they have forgotten their passwords — the login screen of desktops or laptops, regardless of the platform they use.
“The self-service solution with password management can solve this problem, but it will be effective only if it is available to all users in the organization – no matter what computer or mobile platform they use,” said Partiban Paramasivam, director of ADSelfService Plus product management. “The latest version of ADSelfService Plus provides end users with the ability to reset their passwords from their Linux computers, in addition to Windows, macOS and mobile devices running Android and iOS. This provides all users with access to self-service. the ability to reset the password 24/7″.
Using the ADSelfService Plus solution, companies get a cost-effective way to reduce password-related requests and reduce support department workload while maintaining user productivity. The key points of managing self-service passwords for Linux in ADSelfService Plus include:
-Support multi-factor authentication methods, including email-based OTP, SMS-based OTP, Duo Security, RSA SecurID, Google Authenticator, and biometric authentication, for increased security.
-Ability to notify end users and IT administrators via email and SMS, as well as automatically create a request in the support service solution after a successful password reset.
-Support real-time password synchronization to synchronize passwords in Active Directory, Office 365, G Suite, Salesforce, and other corporate applications.
-Support for blacklist of passwords and other advanced password policy settings.
-Audit reports to monitor who uses the self-service functionality, where and when.
ADSelfService Plus is an Active Directory-integrated password management and self-service solution for single sign-on. This system offers opportunities for self-management of passwords, setting reminders for the expiration of passwords, self-updating of the catalog, use of a password synchronizer in various platforms, as well as single sign-on for cloud applications.
