I think she's just desperate to shed her age and get back to a younger self. The cinematography is lovely. When Kay's (Emily Mortimer) mother vanishes only to mysteriously reappear not at all herself, she begins to sense that an insidious presence in the house might be taking control. I dont know what I was thinking. I have no idea what I just paid 6.99 for to watch. I love the story line and everything. I found it very effective. The closet world is a metaphor for her wandering mind and the ending speaks to her need to escape her aging body. It isn't at all scary and not even creepy. Just like with The Taking of Deborah Logan, the audience is left wondering if this lady is losing her mind due to old age or if she is genuinely being disturbed by some malevolent force. It reminded a little bit of the Winchester house which I saw a glimpse of hope in the movie and then it got killed by some randomness. Glad I didn't pay money to go to the movies for this one..Save your $6, nothing happens, no one dies, no ghosts, no monsters, no jump scares, just an old mean lady. This is one of those "B" movies that I would have started watching but didn't finish.
Video availability outside of United States varies. Yes it does has that element, but for me the first movie that came to mind was The Taking of Deborah Logan, but this was a much more PG version. There was no real back story to explain the events AND the movie was just slow-moving with nothing much going on most of the time.

The sound design is very well done. It was boring, boring and boring. Also it's got women in it and it's women centered so if you don't like that you won't like this movie.

I love a good gory horror slash fest but, I also adore this new crop of art-house style cerebral films too. The ending is mind-blowing in that NOTHING is explained, and what daughter does to mother and what remains after what daughter does to mother makes NO SENSE whatsoever.

This is not a movie for a twelve-year-old or anybody that is just looking for a horror movie it's a bit more complex than that. Unlike some other reviewers I found this to provide plenty of suspensful moments. The illusion of a series of images produces continuous motion in the form of video. I read one review when the movie was just released and that critic said it was "the best horror film of 2020". A BAD attempt to have a message in a horror/suspense movie What a great first film for this new director. Nothing scary about it or even suspenseful. The acting is very good, though the cast is very limited. Slow-burn horror film about the fear of getting old. I degress. It's like watching a movie in the dark with a blindfold around your eyes! How long have you fallen asleep during Relic Movie? I need not to see any more great movies like this!
