Aberaeron is a gorgeous Georgian coastal town on Cardigan Bay on the west coast of Wales. Built in 1776, it’s actually Wales’ oldest lighthouse but has now been abandoned since the 1840s.One of the best places to visit in Wales, Castle Coch this a dreamy romantic folly which is sometimes known as Cardiff’s Fairytale Castle or the ‘Red Castle’ is a 19th-century Gothic Revival castle that sits majestically on a hill over overlooking North Cardiff and the valley of River Taff.It’s a charming place to visit, home to striking interior consisting of dazzling ceilings and opulent furnishings but it’s arguably the castle’s surroundings that are the biggest draw. From Tenby, take the ferry over to Caldey Island, a Celtic monastery first established in the 6th century, home to just 40 residents.Translated as the red castle, this Gothic building overlooks the village of Tongwynlais and the River Taff. During the right times of year, you can also sometimes spot puffins here!All the way down on the south coast lies Cardiff, the capital of Wales.
Pro-tip: go right when they open and head straight up the towers if you’re looking to get this shot without other tourists in it.
It was incredibly windy though during our visit, so we were pretty content to stay up top to take our photos.

The Green Bridge in a natural stone arch in the ocean made of limestone, making for a beautiful photo op - just don’t get too close to the edge! The lake is surrounded by woodland and inhabited by an abundance of wildlife, as well as a sculpture trail, cafés and crafts shops. From the top, you can see the town, Cardigan Bay, and the mountain peaks in the distance (if the weather is good enough). Fun fact: the Great Orme Tramway debuted in 1902 and is the only cable-hauled tramway currently operating in Britain.Aberaeron was my personal favorite port town we visited on our coastal trek.
